Odin Group safe in High - Rise work

To improve the working competencies of personnel who develop high-rise works and in compliance with the Resolution 3673 of 2008, issued by the Ministry of Social Security, where it is established the technical regulation of high-rise work, Odin Group requested to the SENA, Higher technical school of the government, to them conduct the training to the company employees and by this way, to minimize risks in operations.
The training was in charge of the SENA instructor, José Fernando López, who through a theorical - practical methodology taught its knowledge about the regulation, law and tools of protection, such as harness, hooks, rails, anchors and life lines, among others, and the maneuvers they could perform in high-rise work to identify risks, dangers and at the same time, controlled them with the adequate and certified elements.
In this course of three levels, the basic is aimed to the administrative staff that will not perform works over 1.5 meters high; the intermediate level in which the section supervisors and the staff of high-rise work control participated and the advanced level which is focused to the personnel that develop their work in a height upper than a meter fifty centimeters.
The engineer, Luis López, Coordinator of health and safety in the workplace, HSEQ, said that the company is complying with the requirements of the Ministry of Social Security, at the same time, is promoting safety culture to minimize accident risks in the company.
"With this training course, we have accomplished that workers learn to work safe in heights, using the harness and lifelines, while we promote between the staff about how important is to minimize accident risks", said the engineer Lopez.
As it is well known, high-rise work is an activity deemed as high risk and according to the national statistics, represent the first cause of accidents and death in the work that is why is required plan, organize, perform, control and evaluate the activities to intervene, which is why to protect to the workers, every person who performs high-rise works, must be certified and this is why the HSEQ Department requested to the SENA the training of the personnel.
